If this affects all Android versions under 10 it's a problem. Entering the path manually works, but is not user friendly.
I think part of the problem is, that Androids external storage handling behaviour has changed at least twice.
Plus it's not uniform in terms of folder path picking - basically every larger brand comes with its own file manager.
Then, suddenly, you're confronted with a changed file system structure, something you hadn't fiddled around for years or ever.
I don't blame the end user for that, it's caused by Google's repeatedly revised design choices in the past.

And there you go with all those Playstore reviews...
A lot of work went into 1.4, not just about the unavoidable storage framework change, but also in terms of FTP improvements, the radio browser database integration and many other things. I don't know how Peter feels about this, but I would've expected some more positive Playstore feedback there...

foobar2000 mobile / [Android]Start playing directly at startup
Last post by k3677 -
If I terminate the process of foobar2000 while it is playing a song, the program will start playing directly the next time it starts, sometimes causing some awkward situations.
I hope the program always starts in a stopped state, just like on the desktop. Alternatively, developers can add an option for this.

What phone model?
If you can determine location of your SD card within your phone's filesystem using other means, use "enter path manually" to specify the location.

1.4.1 can still see all previously added folders if upgraded from 1.3.x (1.4 couldn't).
Thanks!
The phone is a Sony Xperia X.

Yes, upgrading from 1.3.x directly to 1.4.1 preserves the folder.
Entering the path manually also works, as you said. Doing that displays the whole path (/storage/...) on the home screen, instead of just the folder name. I don't mind that, but maybe someone would.

Someone stated that the problem was fixed after removing and reinstalling the app.
That didn't work for me.

Neither 1.4.0 nor 1.4.1 let me access the SD card, so I can't select a folder for the library. Foobar2000 does have the storage permission.

I noticed that 1.3.x uses a system (?) file picker, while in 1.4.x it's a different file picker that only shows the phone internal storage, but no SD card.

The phone is on Android 8.0.
