UpdateFileInfoFromJSON  is obviously not for updating radio streams. It's always going to fail on playlist entries that are streams as per the very first line in the docs...

I know less than nothing about components like mtags but I'd assume they handle tagging updates transparently from fb2k/3rd party taggers without playback being affected?? Any issues with them not behaving as you expect need to be reported to the relevant dev.

I followed the instructions, and it is listed in the "installed components" section, but in the past I had to select it from some output setting somewhere. I don't see that option anywhere.

I just want to make sure I have done everything I need to make it work.

Quick question: Why are right click actions restricted to the action button and filter buttons? The documentation says that right click also works on "list" (meaning the list of playlists?), but that doesn't seem to work for me, and nothing happens when I right click anywhere on the list.

I'm used to right click opening context menus (that's the behavior in the rest of Foobar anyway), so having that on left click instead for playlists seems a bit counterintuitive and is hard to get used to. I assume there must be a technical reason for it?

Oh, also the double click timeframe seems a bit short to me (i.e. it requires a very fast doubleclick) - is there some way to make it longer? Like, a number I can increase somewhere in the scripts?

General - (fb2k) / DSP association to default device

With Foobar2000 2.0, you can associate DSP to devices. But if you change default device in Windows (not in Foobar2000 where I use "Primary Sound Device"), I guess it will never be usable ?
Do you think it would be possible in the future to use "Primary Sound Driver" in Foobar200 but use DSP associated to Windows default device ?

Hello again... I've been talking with the dev responsible for foo_discord_rich in hopes to see if he could implement some sort of compatibility with his plugins or at least listen for notifications sent by the JScript panel,

He mentioned that if I want to use a custom radio station which hosts its album art separately I could use the UpdateFileInfoFromJSON function which will write tags to an mTAG file and trigger the upload script for foo_discord_rich, while at first, it seems something plausible but soon enough I noticed an issue where when I update tags while a file is playing it'll stop and start entering into a cycle where it checks for all my conditions again from start... a whole refresh.

I assume this cannot be the correct way of using the UpdateFileInfoFromJSON function to trick another component into that a metadata change has occurred.

Off-Topic / New Security: SMB signing required by default in Windows Insider

Beginning in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25381 (Canary, zn_release) Enterprise editions, SMB signing is now required by default for all connections. This changes legacy behavior, where Windows 10 and 11 required SMB signing by default only when connecting to shares named SYSVOL and NETLOGON and where Active Directory domain controllers required SMB signing when any client connected to them.

This is part of a campaign to improve the security of Windows and Windows Server for the modern landscape.

AAC - General / xHE-AAC in Windows 11 22H2 (or newer)

Finally xHE-AAC plays natively in Windows 11! Files encoded in xHE-AAC play in Media Player and other apps. Live streams in MSE web players play in Chrome 114 or newer and the latest Opera (and possibly other browsers). Edge should also work once it gets to version 114 or newer.

Anyone outside the USA curious to test this can do so with my Internet radio web players available at Max Radio Society. Click the Play button to launch the web player then select one of the xHE-AAC streams.
