When I manually add a bookmark, it appears selected in the panel. And the previous one remains selected too. If I create 10 or 20 bookmarks in a row, there will be 10 or 20 items selected in the panel, if I don't touch it (I'm on Columns UI).
It's not really annoying. Maybe it's useful. It's a detail I've noticed.

@Terence

This version should fix the single selection and also ensure that the new bookmark is visible.

Thanks for the new version !

It seems that "highlighted" is different than "selected", and that does something unexpected for me:
I do this: (there are already bookmarks before) I manually create several bookmarks in a row. Next, I want to select several bookmarks with Shift + Click. The selection is not what I expect. The beginning of the selection remained at the top of the list, while the highlighted item was at the bottom.
If I'm not mistaken, the selected item (with a frame around it), if different from the highlighted item, is not seen when the panel is inactive.
Maybe it's useful to keep the selection. Once you know, it's just one more click.

This version should mimic the 'Add to Current Playlist' action in the Album List, select and focus new items.

Final release v1.0, thanks all for your collaboration!

Vital Boorkmark v1.1 re-uploaded

Re: [fb2k v2] Vital Bookmarks

When I click on entries within the bookmarks list, it loads the next song in the playlist instead (at the timestamp of the initial bookmark). Only if I clear the playlist entry of the bookmark, it plays that specific song (at the given timestamp).

In the console, the are also some errors...

It looks somehow like a bug (using foo_vbookmark v1.1 with foobar 2.1 preview [several versions], x64).

@kruji,
The bug seems to be related to the 'Restore bookmarks to queue' option.
The next release will include a fix.

Hello @da yuyu!
The useful component and great release!

I especially like the feature of automatically creating a bookmark when changing an Internet radio track.
This way I can create a history of tracks that were played on the radio station.
Thanks for your work!

The "Copy bookmark" feature in the context menu copies the contents of the "Playlist" column.
Is it possible to add the ability to copy the contents of the "Bookmark" column?
The content of this column is customizable. Therefore, it will be possible to use a search for the contents of this column on the Internet, for example.

Thank you!

Thanks a lot @da yuyu

  • Is it possible to add a a typefind feature that allows to search for bookmarks by the first letter, like the DUI Playlist View?
  • If I moved a bookmarked track to a different playlist, how can I change the playlist name in Vital Bookmarks?

@MG240,

You are welcome, thanks for testing and providing suggestions for improvement!

A new release is available:

Vital Bookmark v1.2.4

The typefind is now enabled for the bookmark, playlist and comment column.

About moving bookmarks, please try the new context menu option to reassign playlists.

Fixes:

- Copy to clipboard failing with reversed list order.
- Some scenarios when bookmark auto-creation stalls.
- Showing/hiding columns resetting column widths.
- Queued items bookmark auto-creation.

New:

- Comment radio station.
- Bookmark, playlist and comment column typefind.
- Reassign playlist context menu option.

v1.2.4 is mostly  a quick fix. I hope bugs introduced in v1.2 are now fixed.

Is it necessary that an audio file first be in the state of having been clicked on and at least started before that audio file can be listed as a bookmark?

One of my recent uses of foobar2000 is to cycle through a set of audio files in a playlist with the goal of learning the material in the audio files.

For an example of my question:

Say there are fifty audio files in a playlist, and twenty of the files are played in sequence. Can the twenty-first file in the list be added as a bookmark without that file having been clicked on to play?

I have ctrl+v set up as a shortcut to add bookmarks, but nothing is added to the bookmark list until the audio file has been started. Just highlighting/selecting the track in the playlist doesn't get the track added to the list.

I suspect the answer to my queston is no but thought I'd ask.

And just to note that I would prefer to set up the bookmark manually in the above senario, not auto-create. I also like the idea of being able to return to a playlist and play audio tracks from it without it disturbing the bookmark that has been previously set in Vital Bookmarks.

Regardless if the above can or cannot be done. Thank you for your work.

I received the error 'Component installation failure: This component does not support Mac OS.'

Since foobar2000 for Mac OS accepts components from version 2.6 onwards, is it possible to have a version of your plugin for MacOS, please?

I never had need of a bookmarking component until recently. So I have been test using version 1.2.4 of Vital Bookmarks.

Below is a screenshot of a right-click context menu of an audio file in EsPlaylist. I do not see Vital Bookmarks listed (Is it supposed to be?). Vital Bookmarks is listed under "View" & "Playback" in the main menu.

Another thing I noticed and I thought maybe EsPlaylist is at fault, but when clicking a saved bookmark, to play it, sometimes the track the bookmark is tied to will come into view in the playlist and be highlighted and play. And other times the bookmarked track will play but not come into view in the playlist, and not be highlighted. And if I scroll up or down in the playlist looking for the playing track; I have to go by title to locate it.

'Pause bookmarking' will be included as an assignable shortcut action in future releases. Would that be ok to solve that issue?

Does it show right-clicking the currently playing track? I need to install EsPlaylist and have a look when I find some time.  ???

Currently, it is, yes. Although next releases will probably enable bookmarking tracks arbitrarily, regardless of their playback state. Maybe just drag and drop initially, not sure about it.

Todo:
- Pause bookmark menu action.
- Bookmark tracks regardless of playback state.
- ESPlaylist menu integration.

Thanks for your feedback!

I would be glad to attempt a Mac release!
Unfortunately, I am still stuck in Sierra, High Sierra being the min requirement.
Also not sure about Apple dev fees nowadays... I'll check it out.

Sorry, there is no issue there with Vital Bookmarks. I was just stating that I liked that an already saved bookmark wasn't affected by later playing tracks from the playlist. Nothing for you to do there - it isn't broken.

No, it does not show when right-clicking the currently playing track in EsPlaylist. But I just checked, and it does show when right-clicking the currently playing track in JS Playlist.

It has been twelve years since EsPlaylist recieved any updates. Probably not worth your effort to install it unless you just want to. It is old but still very nice.

Just to note that an old predecessor component (foo_uie_bookmarks) does allow bookmarking tracks that have only been selected, and are not in an active playing state.
