Hardware testing, computerized switchboxes

Anyone thought of making a PC-controlled switchbox for hardware blind testing, and say interfacing it with the abchr program (modified accordingly)?

By the way, the signature editing textbox has controls that do not work, such as bold text etc.  That is confusing and someone should disable these controls, as otherwise the assumption is initially that these tags would apply to signature text.
