can you help to calibrate the vu meter?

hi

I have installed vu meter foo_vis_vumeter.dll  and i  guess i have installed the last version

in the settings I have this

I have read even
Quote
Preferences > Advanced > Display > VU Meter:
VU meter sensitivity – Default left and right preamp (db): 20 and rise time(s) 0.20s
Mouse wheel (hover over meters)
Adjusts meter sensitivity

with the mouse i have set 0dB
but it's not calibrated ,it does show clipping even it's not clipped
might you please help me how to set it up ?
I listen mp3/aac 44.100 or flac 44.100 , and wasapi exclusive
thanks

Use CTRL-Mousewheel on the working VU Meter in your skin.
CTRL-Mousewheel does not do a thing hovering on settings.

Hi
I know i have to use CTRL-mousewheel over the vu meter skin ,but i really don't understand how calibrate to be 100% exact
you can try to use only the mouse wheel over the vu meter skin , and find out with or without ctrl , it does change the same db
thanks

Does it matter? The VU Meter is eye candy only.

1. Download the -6dB sine wave file.
2. Load the sine wave file into foobar.
3. Turn down the amplifier volume to ZERO !!! OR switch off your amplifier.
4. Goto foobar Preferences: Advanced page
5. Scroll down to the Display section, VU Meter section.
6. Check "Automatic gain control"
7. Click OK
8. Check that your amplifier volume is ZERO !!!   Final warning!!!
9. Play the -6dB sine wave file.
10. You will see the VU meter needle jump - maybe hit overload levels. Just keep watching, it will slowly move toward 0dB.
11. Once stabilized, you can STOP playing the sine wave.
12. Goto foobar Preferences: Advanced page
13. Scroll down to the Display section, VU Meter section.
14. UnCheck "Automatic gain control"
15. Click OK

I couldn't find the sine wave file mentioned nor am I knowledgeable enough to vouch for this process or produce the -6dB sine wave file but I would be interested in seeing this method critiqued and tested. I suspect different skins may also affect this process.

can i set foobar2000 volume to 0?
i  have  created with goldware
Tools -> Expression Evaluator -> Presets -> Waves -> Sine
and maximize volume (it's normalize) at -6db
i guess you could do with audacity too
seem to work, it should set the wheel mouse at 6
do you need the  -6dB sine wave file ?
thanks
