Worst to best LAME VBR methods? mt, rh, mtrh?

I'm encoding a video with MEncoder, and in mp3lame options there are five VBR methods to choose: 0=CBR, 1=MT, 2=RH, 3=ABR, 4=MTRH.

What is the difference between MT, RH, and MTRH?

Which of these five algorithms do you think are best and which the worst?

IIRC these options were relevant ~20 years ago.

MT, and RH are just the initials of the person that implemented it: Mark Taylor, and Robert hegemann.  MTRH means a combination of both.

You can check the history to know a bit more about them, but they are old things:
https://sourceforge.net/p/lame/svn/HEAD/tree/trunk/lame/doc/html/history.html?format=raw

If that encoder forces you to switch, you will probably need to select 4.
