General - (fb2k) / Re: HDCD Alterative?
Last post by Defender -
Are you people certain you need to bother with HDCD? In my opinion that tech has always been dead. For example that Van Halen album shown in Defender's screenshot doesn't seem to use any HDCD features: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,61731.msg551062.html#msg551062. If that's the case, it will just be quieter when decoded with HDCD component, or with the volume boost enabled it will be identical to non-decoded one.

This Van Halen HDCD only has transient filter upon playing. I'm not listening to it.
I stick to the Rhino 2015 HD remasters.

That's weird. Even if you didn't install the font as mentioned in the previous post, the display is just borked on certain icons that make up the layout. No errors should be thrown.

Hold Shift+Winkey together and right click the panel>Configure. Add this code.

Code: [Select]
String.prototype.calc_width = function (font_str) {
console.log("DEBUG", font_str);
var font = JSON.parse(font_str);
return utils.CalcTextWidth(this, font.Name, font.Size, font.Weight || 400);
}

You should get the same error but with a console DEBUG message before it. I'd like to see that please.

edit: the shift+winkey bit isn't necessary when the script has errored. It's only required when JSPlaylist is "working". :P

WavPack / Re: WavPack 5.6.4 Has Multithreading Option
Last post by Kraeved -
Dear @bryant, our community has found a techno sample that puts Wavpack Hybrid and many other lossy codecs to shame. It seemed to me that I finally found an acceptable, easily memorable setting for a vintage computer, namely -b4x or even -b4x3, which scales well with CD audio and Hi-Res, so you do not need to change the bitrate yourself when input switches from 44 kHz 16 bit to, for example, 48 kHz 24 bit, but now I feel lost. One of the prominent users, @shadowking, suggests using -s 0.5 to make all that noisy sand at the beginning of the file less audible, but perhaps you can suggest something else that will bring back the joy of audio encoding?

Scientific Discussion / Re: Weird silence shown in Audition between two gapless FLAC tracks
Last post by btescm -
After I removed from Audition settings the smoothing options, I checked other releases and they have normal concatenation. It's only new Meteora that I know of has this pause between tracks. I don't think that it's some special Audition handling for these files only.

>dedicated gapless playback software
to check by simply listening? I don't think such a tiny gap is noticeable by human ear

foobar2000 mobile / Re: [SKIN] DarkX & LightX for foobar2000 Mobile, v1.5 preview
Last post by Daiki -
Yes, I'm on iOS (iPhone 14+).

Now I understand what you were referring to: strangely (?) the top bar is always visible in vertical mode (no need to push the button here), but NEVER visible in horizontal mode (which I usually prefer for Foobar).

PS: and fewer option too (no dimmed screen):

I am also an iOS user and it seems that the clock display in landscape mode is a difference at the OS level.
In principle, the status bar is displayed in landscape mode on Android, but not on iOS.
This behavior is not limited to foobar2000 for mobile, but is also true for any other application, such as the YouTube app, Safari, or Mail.

As already mentioned, it is currently impossible to implement clock display by skinning.
This is because it is not possible to retrieve OS or application level variables.

It is not straightforward, but a temporary workaround would be to display the clock of lock screen by swiping downward from the top edge of iPhone's display.

foobar2000 mobile / Re: [Skin] Metallic Phosphor

Great work.
I am not familiar with metal music, but feeling of it appears to be well represented.

I tried your skin on my iPhone 14 Pro (19.5:9) and the layout was not significantly disrupted.
However, in portrait mode, part of the top edge of the album artwork and the next track information is hidden or clipped by the rounded corners of the display and the dynamic island.

This is probably not a problem at all on devices with 16:9 displays.
If you are considering for other aspect ratios, it will be good option to researve margins to avoid the "obstructions" on recent mobile display.
Just for your information.
