How good is AAC for archiving? (192 kb/s)

I use to archive my music using lastest lame at extreme vbr, but i wanna know how good is aac to archive music as well? 192 is the maximum i would use.

Using AACenc with -extreme profile, you will get bitrates around that and transparency on 99%+ of the musics.

Even with -normal you will get great quality.

yes, i would second that.

through some [non] intensive testing i still haven't been able to abx the source vs. extreme or archive.

AAC iis better then mp3 at 192. even if you use dibroms tweakings

just be sure to use lates version of the psytell encoder
