Title: Help: APE format supporting(DLNA)
Post by: yjfpb04 on 2013-05-12 15:53:50
Hi folks,

I have a question about APE supporting using Foobar2000.

I use foobar2000 as a DLNA media renderer on my Desktop and BubbleUpnp as both media controller and media server on my Android Phone.

The question is: How can foobar2000 support to play APE format audio files located in my Android Phone?
I'm really interested with the implement detail since I didn't find any other renderer have this feature.

Thanks,
-Bob

fb2k doesn't support Monkey's Audio (.ape) out of the box, but needs a plugin

Is foo_input_monkey.dll (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_monkey) not enough to make this work, or is BubbleUpnp not recognising the .ape files as servable DLNA media?

From a quick look at the codecs it supports, bubbleupnp doesn't include Monkey's Audio support for local playback and presumably not for transcoding, so it probably won't recognise it as media and serve the file to fb2k either. Perhaps somebody knows a way round it, but I doubt there's a way to tell it the .APE files are renderable media. If it were me, I'd losslessly convert to a more widely supported lossless format like FLAC with only a marginal space increase and a greatly reduced processor load/battery consumption when decoding.

I have a question about APE supporting using Foobar2000.
Then why did you post this outwith the dedicated subforum for foobar2000? Moved.
