How can I change the output folder?
I clicked the icon next to Output, but it won't let me select “Browse”.

'Browse' should be available when the Input is either 'Folder browser' or 'Hide browser'. 'Multiselect Browser' and 'Drag'n'drop mode' require a 'template' because more than one disc can be selected.

Thanks. Setting that Output folder is fiddly. I changed to 'Folder browser', navigated the tree and double-clicked a folder or somehow selected it. Somehow it caused CueTools to rename my folder to "My Music". I deleted that folder, and recreated my original folder. Again, through navigating somehow magically Output now shows the path I wanted, but I'm not sure how I did it.

this problem appeared some time ago, before that everything was good.
i can convert only one album in batch mode, then one of those errors appears.

I replaced built-in FLACCL with version 0.4 (exe with command-line parameters). All files were written without any error message. :-)

Good day.

I recently ripped a CD with EAC (1 bad track; with my Pioneer DVD this is VERY frequent even on pristine CDs) and got curious about a bit at the end of EAC's log that mentionned I could repair the rip with CUETools. So I installed CT and several hours later, I repaired the bad track. Now here's the funny part, I re-verified the repaired CD and I noticed that for the repaired track, the LOG column in accurip's log is still different than all the other tracks - How can it be different, if the track is repaired shouldn't I see "CRC32" in that column?

Here's the verify log (this is a verify of the repaired CD) - Notice that now all tracks are "accurately ripped" (Track #11 was no match before the repair) but also notice for Track #11, at the bottom of the log, how it as a CRC in the "LOG" column instead of the word "CRC32":

AccurateRip v2: <-- What does this mean, why does it NOT say "AccurateRip v2 ID: blabla", there's no ID in v2?
...

I realize I'm asking a lot, but while I understand the lines that display each track's accuracy, most of the rest of the log I do not understand. Why so many IDs (TOCID, CTDBID, AccurateRip ID), why no ID next to "AccurateRip v2" and for that matter, why v1 and v2? And what does that LOG column mean at the end of the log?

Thank you much for any help.
Best Regards,

Wow that's a lot of questions. You couldn't find the answers somewhere in the other 67 pages?

How can it be different, if the track is repaired shouldn't I see "CRC32" in that column?
This can be found [a href='index.php?act=findpost&pid=616364']here[/a]. This section is provided for checking the files you have against the EAC log file found in the same folder as the files. It is telling you that (after repair) the CRC found in your EAC log file for track 11 is different than the actual file CRC.

Good day.

Alright, I've started reading this thread again (I'm at page 14 right now, this is taking forever!) while ripping CDs with EAC and I just noticed something. Are any of you aware of some issue with the CueTools plugin in EAC where it does not get called at all for some rips? I find that being able to repair rips is just awesome, and so I want to make sure I participate in submitting to CueTools whenever EAC does a good rip. However, sometimes there is no CueTools text at the bottom of the EAC log at all. Anyone know why?

Here's the EAC log in question; the rip is accurate, and not found in CTDB (I verified with CueTools) yet no CueTools entry at bottom of EAC log:

Is this a bug in EAC? Is there a thread on Hydrogen just for the EAC plugin? This happens alot where there is no CueTools entry at end of EAC log :-(

For now I re-rip such CDs with CueRipper just so it gets submitted (then discard the rip, I've already ripped it with EAC) but this is not a good solution...

Thank you much.
Best Regards,

PS: Why is this reply 10000 characters wide (no word-wrap?)

It's a known issue with the CTDB plug-in for EAC:

Quote
When copying selected tracks instead of an image, CTDB plugin doesn't process a CD if it has a HTOA (i.e. when first track does not start at 0:00:00).

Re: word wrap, it is being adversely affected by the "Additional command line options" line in your codebox. Not your fault.

Most info about CTDB, CUETools, CUERipper and the log files is only learned by reading third-party tutorials, having questions answered in forums, and just playing around with the software. It's on my to-do list to beef up the documentation in Gregory's wiki, and I did try to do that a little bit, but it's still in need of a lot of work. Feel free to register and lend a hand.

Ah, I should've re-checked that wiki; I do have it opened in one of the tabs in browser, but never thought to click on the plugin page (right now I'm trying to get thru this thread; I'm at page 32 right now). There's a lot of information to absorb.

Well then for now I guess I'll just use CueRipper to submit (CueTools is supposed to ask to submit at some point, there is a setting for this in advanced, but I haven't figured out how to get it to submit yet).

Thanks again for the information.

Action: Verify will do it but only if AccurateRip confidence is 2+ and there is no current matching CTDB entry. You cannot add to an existing CTDB entry using Verify. Of course Submit to CTDB has to be True under Advanced. I apologize for being terse earlier.

Good evening Korth.

I'm at page 46 of this thread, slowly moving forward.

I've been ripping more CDs and I find that CueRipper is WAY better than EAC when it comes to bad pressings. Where EAC detects 5-20 (yes, 20) "Suspicious" positions for some tracks and fails AR test, CueRipper detects 1 such position (or none) and passes AR test. I will post more about this later, but lets just say it is far better at error recovery than EAC (even with the 5*16 re-reads). CR is also much faster.

About submitting with CueTools:

I can't get it to submit; here is a verify which has a total confidence of 4, yet CueTools is not asking for submit (and yes, it's turned on in advanced settings):

If I recall well CT will only submit if "Verify/Default" is used not "Verify/Only If Found". Maybe you're using "Verify/Only If Found".

WooHoo, Success!

Merci beaucoup Sauvage, c'etait ca! I needed to verify at default. I dont need "Only If Found" anyway, I rip CDs one at a time and verify the rip immediately afterwards - i.e. I never batch verify anything. I think CT just defaulted to selecting that mode and I never dared touch it.

I guess it makes sense; you dont want the submit pop-up to show when you are verifying a thousand songs...

The slider on the right is the ripping method. Secure means that the track is is read twice and the checksums are compared to see if the rip is clean. Paranoid mode will rip the track 4 times and compare the checksums of each rip to make sure they match.

That does not seem entirely accurate; when I rip in paranoid mode I see "Ripping@..." once, then Retry 1 and Retry 2; no Retry 3... So I would say Paranoid reads 3 times (on sectors that have no errors). Paranoid might allow more retries than secure when there -are- errors, I haven't tried yet.

PS: Anyone know how to make CueRipper start in Paranoid mode? It resets to secure everytime I start it. I tried SecureMode=2 -> Ng; Tried ParanoidMode=1 but no go either. I don't think it has the ability to retain Paranoid in its settings file...

SecureMode=2 would be the correct setting but CUERipper does not start in Paranoid mode. Why would you even want to use this mode on anything other than a badly scratched or scuffed disc? Secure mode will read each sector a minimum of 2 times and up to 32 times if the reads don't match.

A feature that I would like to be in CT is the ability to check & update .accurip against the database in order to check lossy encoded files for which you know the lossless ID/CRC.

Exemple:
1- Rip a CD losslessly then check against AR/CTDB database, unfortunately the CD is not in database either because it is rare or new.
2- Unfortunately you don't have the HDD space to store it losslessly, so you encode it lossyly.
3- Happily as you have checked it when it was lossless you still have all the ID & CRC necessary to re-check later even without having the lossless data anymore.
4- With this new feature, update the lossless .accurip in order to verify if the rip is now in database & if it was really accurate.

Indeed if it's not accurate you cannot repair as it's lossy now, still it would be interesting to be able to verify afterward that a lossy rip was accurate before being encoded.

Hey Gorth!

I dont mind Paranoid, I have several CDs in perfect condition (not a scratch, not a smudge, nothing) where both EAC and CueRipper read tons of errors (EAC took 12 hours to rip one of those and reported 20+ suspicious positions on 2 tracks; CueRipper ripped it in an hour and it passed AR, but the RED bar was always almost maxed). You become paranoid when this happens on several otherwise pristine CDs. I'd use CueRipper always, if it could do a few things more (external compressor with tags passed on command line, drop-box for album art, database, ...)

It's on one of those CDs that I had to re-rip with CueRipper that I noticed significant differences in PREGAP displayed in EAC/Cue logiles.

Look at this, same CD ripped with both programs:

Gregory:
Your database now contains almost all of the Rush albums; now that you're here (Canada) you're gonna have to start listening to Rush ;-) And if you end-up ripping your shiny new Rush CDs, you'll have an entry to compare against :-) You're in Ottawa right? If you're looking for a decent rock radio station, try 97.7fm; it's in Montreal but it might reach ya. They don't play enough Floyd, but they do play a lot of Rush, lol.

Thanks.

I've just had CueRipper reach retry#61 on a rip before the red bar disappeared.
If Paranoid mode doubles the retries (32->64) I'd say it's worth it on some rips.

JeanV, you need to use codebox tags when posting logs, etc., so they appear in a scrollable section. Too late now.

What did you use to generate that cue sheet? Or did you just "find" it somewhere? It's damaged beyond repair.

The timestamp after each INDEX ## is supposed to be a position (minutes:seconds:frames format) within most recently mentioned audio FILE (or whichever file you're forcing the cue sheet to be used with). So track 10 index 01 begins at 33:54:45 and track 11 index 01 begins at 38:09:18 ... probably correct. But this means it is nonsensical for track 11 index 00, which is in between, to be at 13:35:66. The story is the same for all the other index 00s.

For splitting, you really only need the index 01s (because you're splitting on track boundaries, and for this disc there's no track 01 index 00 to worry about). So to "fix" the cue sheet, you could delete the INDEX 00 lines, and then it should "work". It no longer represents the original CD, but in this case, that's not a change from the status quo. It didn't represent the original CD properly anyway

If you were to use the cue sheet with the index 00s deleted to burn a copy, the resulting CD-R will be mastered with no 'gaps' (places where you see the cd player count from a negative time up to 0:00 at the end of each track). The audio and the main track boundaries will be OK.

67 pages, that's a lot ... I would rather advise users to go to http://www.cuetools.net/wiki/

(And then perform a couple of searches, and then ask.)
