Foobar won't read blank cd

Was trying to use Foobar as a back up cd burner.  Get a message that indicates it doesn't recognize the blank cd.  Any suggestions as to how to convince it that there is a legitimate blank cd in the drive?  Thanks for any suggestions.  Regards.

Other apps recognize it? Usually it's the burner that doesn't have proper writing strategies for particular dye on CD.
Error 404; signature server not available.

Seems uneven.  Some programs do fine.  Had to reload CDXP after it had some issues but it works fine now.  Windows Media recognized, Burrn didn't.  Confusing.  Regards.
