Kernel streaming problem in Win ME

After installing foobar2000 and checking the kernel streaming option, the settings page for kernel streaming in the foobar preferences shows <empty> page. The file also simply does not play when kernel streaming is selected. However, in Windows XP, the settings show up and the file plays perfectly. Is there anyway to fix this? I use an Audigy (and had to downgrade from xp to ME for a terrible reason, but please don't mind that)

Indeed.  It's part of Microsoft's "newer" driver model.
