A question about ADIF

If a decoder like faad is feed with arbitrary data inside an ADIF file, i think it will fail to decode.
So, here comes the question, ADIF file can't be played in trick mode, right? and how does a decoder
to recover from error when decoding ADIF file? Simply quit?
