dBpoweramp Release 13

Major Changes

CD Ripper is enhanced by the addition of 3 new meta data providers (GD3, MusicBrainz & TrackType), GD3 offers album art up to 500x500 pixels. These new providers allowed for the creation of PerfectMeta™. Note-worthy additions:
  • CD Ripper is able to scan / paste / load album art files
  • HTOA ripping (hidden first track ripping),
  • Defective by design Ripping,
  • Added 'Track Technical' column will show if CD is HDCD (install DSP Effects to rip as 24 bit), or has Pre-Emphasis set
  • Wave: Compatible with 'id3 ' chunk ID Tags

PerfectMeta™

PerfectMeta™ uses 4 Internet meta data providers simultaneously, this allows any inevitable errors, such as spelling mistakes to be self corrected. In addition, there are 100's of internal rule sets to ensure that the metadata returned is consistent across discs & providers. Last year Illustrate were proud and confident R12 issued in a new era of secure-rippers (securest of the secure), R13 offers the best metadata solution obtainable today.

Reference R13 also includes: CD Writer and Batch Ripper. CD Writer allows for burning of audio CDs, whilst Batch Ripper is designed for those with large collections to rip (and commercial Ripping houses).

Wow, thanks for the update.  Does this version of dBpowerAMP allow us to update the version of Lame being used?

Lame.exe we supply is just a standard one, but there have been reports of Lame 3.98b not working, no investiagtion into why has been done.

I have 2 thread over at dbpoweramp regarding the perfect meta. I am trying to get spoon to make some tweaks in it.

PerfectMeta: Meta-Data Formating Suggestions

-I think to much weight has been placed on the AMG results and would like some suggestions to help improve the meta-data output

PerfectMeta Gen Discussion:

-requests and discussion for PerfectMeta, such as request for more/other meta providers such as discogs and simultaneus polling of the multiple freeDB entries, not just one random one.

Will cue sheets be added at the "Multi Encoder" level?  I'd like to rip a FLAC image and AAC tracks.  I do this today with EAC and REACT 2 but seems development of REACT 2 is at a standstill.  If dBpoweramp can do this I'm sold.

Will there be support for embedded cue sheets?

I assume the HDCD DSP is Christopher Keys' hdcd.exe?

It is difficult to say at this time.

----------

HDCD is Chris's program (it says so in the DSP effect license agreement).

Any chance on an update with the LAME 3.98 final codec?

Or is this something I could swap in myself? (Not very code savvy, copy and paste is my method haha)
o.O I am... the threadkiller O.o

Lame 3.98 is in the R13.1 beta (see the beta section of dbpoweramp's forum).

Lame 3.98 is in the R13.1 beta (see the beta section of dbpoweramp's forum).
Generally speaking, I'm not particularly apprehensive when it comes to beta versions...
Not with dBpoweramp though (one of the few exceptions justifying the rule).
Last time I installed a *not-fully-tested final build*, problems occurred (that Windows Explorer feature when you hover over audio files stopped responding etc)
It wasn't irreversible, but it took me some time to sort things out.

That's why I'm asking for a workaround, say manually extracting the new LAME v3.98 dll in the \dbpoweramp\encoder folder overwriting the old "mp3 (Lame).dll"
Perhaps you could upload it separately in the *Codec Central*...

Thank you.

R13.1 beta is mainly bug fixes, so is more stable than R13... (see the change log in the beta section).

Please forgive my ignorance, but with dBpoweramp is it possible to rip to multiple formats at the same time?

I used EAC and REACT2 to rip my collection to both flac and mp3 (individual tracks), but now I have a new computer with no ripping software yet and am thinking about trying dBpoweramp instead since I've heard so many great things about it.

dBpoweramp Music Converter Release 13.2

R13.2 adds FLAC as standard, a new 3.98.2 version of Lame and GD3 Symphony which includes extra classical ID Tag fields (such as orchestra, period, etc).

Changes:

FLAC codec included as standard, is default codec for CD Ripper
FLAC codec - internal update to allow 'Front Cover Art' as default

DSP Effects updated to R4

CD Ripper: MetaDataGD3 Symphony - extended classical fields
CD Ripper: naming sections max length increased from 1000 to 10000 chars
CD Ripper: metadata review - red miss-matches shown in bold (for color blind)

mp3 Lame updated to 3.98.2
mp3 Lame added 'Forced Stereo' option on advanced

GetPopupInfo enhanced so can no longer 100% CPU if audio file is corrupted

dBpoweramp Configuration Program Versions redesigned (dAP + Sveta removed, Asset Added)

Bug Fixes

Batch Converter if Listed files, sorted on a column and excluded certain items, when click Ok the wrong items would be excluded
mp3 ID Tag writing, if unicode selected would crash if setting a 'www' element
CD Ripper has code to stop 2 filenames being the same (from the same disc), this would not work if the names were case-independant, where as Windows is not...
Music Converter, when dropping files, was checking allowed extensions on encoder extensions, not decoder

Hi spoon, I just installed 13.2 over previous version and the installer automatically restarted Windows?! May I ask what the bleep? I've installed hundreds and hundreds of different software and never ever has any program restarted windows without asking it first. I lost unsaved work in text editor & in graphics editor (this was a major drag, lots of hard work went to pixel heaven).. fortunately everything else was saved or was able to recover (e.g Opera). If this automatic restart is really a "feature" in dBpoweramp installer, please consider changing it.

Did you not see the end message about installation completing, with the

I can also say I was surprised by the rebooting on my XP machine and don't recall seeing any message regarding restarting the computer. If it was there, it certainly wasn't the typical popup that waited for you to say yes or no.....

Perhaps it would be better if it defaulted to unchecked?
