Listening Tests / Re: A killer sample for Opus 256 VBR
Last post by .halverhahn -
The lowpassed file shared here looks perfect, the difference between it and the original only contains very quiet high frequency tones. It's completely inaudible to me even using headphones at loud volume.
Same here. Played the diff track - silence.

+1 - Pure silence for the diff track.

My gear for this ABX is a Dell Latitude 7240 headphone output (Realtek Audio), Windows 11, Windowsmixer set to 24/48000, using cheap Panasonic RP-TCM115E In-Ear Headphones.

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: ReplayGain DSP - Alternative ReplayGain implementation by Case
Last post by Mekoz -
I think i may have found the problem. In advanced settings, Fast DSP reset when cycling tracks manually was checked. When changing songs now, every song has a ReplayGain DSP entry in the console and seems to be working correctly. I apologise for not being more thorough before reporting an issue.

I do still experiance several hundred milliseconds delay before each track is played. Im wondering if this could be due to Minibar scanning the waveform beforehand?

General Audio / Re: Live stream format with proper metadata & embededd album covers
Last post by nu774 -
I've wrote some 100 lines of code that scans chained ogg-flac file with libFLAC 1.5.
https://gist.github.com/nu774/d82ffd0b0c637b34fb3369cdc779e1cb
This basically read metadata of each link and skip to the next until it reaches the end of file.
It's reasonably easy, but I want a way to jump/seek to arbitrary link after that.
After the whole scanning process done, I believe all link positions in file are internally indexed, but I don't know what is the appropriate way.
Do I have to use FLAC__stream_decoder_seek_absolute()? Or just repeatedly call FLAC__stream_decoder_skip_single_link()?

AAC / Re: QAAC on Windows 11
Last post by sundance -
I can (partly) replicate Case's speed improvements here with QAAC v2.84:
On Windows 10, the speed is on par with v2.82.
QAAC v2.84@Windows 11:
Win11 MP3x861107x/199x2.82: 1136x/157x
x64920x/199x2.82: 1455x/192x
Win11 WAVx862852x/200x2.82: 4622x/200x
x643123x/245x2.82: 6088x/243x
So higher speed on 32-bit binary encoding, slower scanning on 32/64-bit.

CD Hardware/Software / Re: Figuring out an DISC's offset ?
Last post by Porcus -
Walls of Jericho, the 14th track, has zeroes for the last 4200-ish samples. The difference to mine - after correcting for offset - is ninety dB down. That is, only in the least-significant bit.

Looks like your drive and/or ripping application cannot handle lead-out?
