Possible to prevent foobar from removing files that are deleted from playlists?

I noticed that if I delete a file from my media library within foobar by doing  right click > File Operations > Delete file, the deleted file will also be removed from any playlist that it was present in.  Is there any way to prevent this?

Sometimes when I delete a file, I am replacing it with an updated file in a different directory.  So, I would like for it to remain in any playlists as just a "dead file" listing so that I can find it within said playlist and replace it with the new file.  Otherwise, I may forget about the song and it won't get replaced in the playlist.

Why not add the replacement file to the playlist first and delete the bad file afterwards? Another option, if you don't use autoplaylists, is to use "Open containing folder" context entry to open the file's location in file manager and delete the file there. Or use foo_run to delete the file.

I feel stupid for not really thinking of the first option, but I'll be doing that.  It's a certain genre of music I listen that I have multiple playlists for.  One is a complete playlist for the genre, and the other playlists are for each individual production label.  So I would delete a batch of files from the complete genre playlist and it would subsequently remove them from each individual label playlist.
