converter dither - is it the same for all word lengths?

When using converter with dither option turned on ,  is the same noise shaped dither used as in playback? Does the dither algorithm change according to the word length chosen , ie flat tpdf for 24bit output and noise shaped for 16 bit?

Dither some silence and amplify it in e.g. audacity (about +96 dB) and you'll find out. I can't see it making the slightest difference what dither is used at 24 bit though.
