has someone tried good old gameboy as a music instrument? ( wikipedia entry ) I wonder how to get it all working (most of the software & hardware sites I visit on this topic say 'sorry our chiptune stuff is no longer avaliable') on my game boy..

Yes, if you own a device such as a flash card for running 3rd party software on your Gameboy, there are several music tools available.  I've made a few tunes using Carillon Editor, a tracker very similar to old Amiga MOD trackers.  There are a few listed here:  http://www.nullsleep.com/utilities.php
