Soundtouch plugin effect the Audio Quality?

i just want to know if the soundtouch plugin does the dampen the audio quality?

Yes it does. This is a rather extreme test but I checked what happens when tempo is first halved and then doubled. File length changed, waveform shape and amplitude changed and frequency response changed. Here's a screenshot of original:

And here's the processed:

Imgur transcoded my PNGs to jpeg but these are sufficient to show the change.

pretty sure it uses cubic interpolation, though there is options for sinc i think.
