Hi

I've seen that foobar still lacks a manual in english


If someone has already done something, I'm greatly interested..

I know it's a bit short, but I had to start with something, the first steps should be a quick " tutorial " for new users

I'm french so I think I will continue with the help of the great manual

but as english is not my native language, it will take a lot of time, and I'm having very important exams in the next weeks (Polytechniques and ENS for french people..). So don't be too hasty..

Comments and critics are welcome (especially for grammatical and vocabulary correction), please tell me if you see a broken link

OMG, do you mean that one needs to be able to study at X or ENS to use fb2k?

no just that I will have these exams in the next week and consequently, I won't be able to fully develop my site in the coming weeks.. But just a bit in the evening (to have some rest after thinking 4-6hours about pysics ot maths)

I've not been idle. But as announced, it takes time to translate and while I' translating, I'm also learning a lot of things.. so it's even longer

I've added  Entry, pictures and I'm trying to translate the setting page which is quite technical.

well we have different opinions, it isn't a matter of importance I think.

Two manuals will always be better than one, and I do not consider mine as a competitor to wiki, just another way to present the things.

I've finished the setting page, just starting the replaygain one. Well I didn't think it would be so long and so interesting.. But as I'm doing some search about the things I don't know instead of just translating it.. It needs time and time and time...

I've send two mail to him, do you think that sending him a third by the hardware.fr forum could improve my chance of getting an answer? (I'm also a member of hardware.fr) (it's a question, I'm not trying to argue..)

He actually has only limited access to internet, but you may improve you chance by sending a PM either from HA or HFR forum.

The replaygain page has improved, I might finish it tomorrow between two chemical or physics formula 

I will next do the DSP page (which will represent a huge amount of work I think, even remaining global)

I've finished the DSP page,

the only DSP which I couldn't know its effect is "move stereo to rear channels", if someone would explain it, it would be nice 

My page is a little bit more exhaustive than the original but not much

The order page has improved, but I'm a bit tired, be patient for the end..

Will go back to algebra (less interesting than understanding foobar  but more helpful for exams  )

well I didn't write much today but I was trying to find some information about masstagging and I gave several dozens of topic to read (quite technical ones), but anyway, the masstagger page has started:

As I am not a very powerful masstagger man, if some things said on the page are totally wrong, don't hesitate in any way to warn me or correct me.

And if some of the readers could give any feedback (positive or negative it doesn't matter) it would be a good thing, because I have the impression that a lot of people are intersted (600 "readings"? of the post) but without any feedback, it's hard to know if they find it interesting..

Maybe I am going to be banned, jeered, lynched or whatever but I think that the strength of the wiki  makes unfortunately also its weakness.

Because the wiki is there to  be accessible to anyone, even without any knowledge for HTML or else, but as a consequence, it's abilities are less important than HTML.
Moreover, as several users write the wiki, there is not always coherence between all that is said (but that is not very important).

But on the other hand, as it can be used by a lot of people, the knowledge written is quite huge. I did this manual because it interests me and I think that then putting a little link into the wiki would be sufficient. And as I told you, anyone who wants to use what I wrote for putting it into the Wiki is able to if he asks to.

The masstagger page has improved but I am rowing into the flow of TAGZ against its flow, as a consequence it is terribly slow to do something.. Hope I will learn faster and faster or it will take years to finish that demoniacal page..

I've added a page about tags.

I will finish the masstagger and TAGZ page after having translated the rest of foobar2000.net (5 or 6 pages maximum) as it is easier to translate than create a page 'especially concerning TAGZ).

As usual, grammatical mistakes, comments, critics are highly welcomed.

there is only the quicktag component left, I keep it for tomorrow, I am too tired tonight (hard meeting with elecricity/magnetism this morning and a week of exam is quite tiring, I am going to enjoy tomorrow 11am after my "computer exam")

As said above, I will work on the playlist page and maybe try to improve the "reading" design of the site and its architecture while it's time to do it. And maybe put a plan to give access to the interesting points more easily.
