Convert music with different codecs

Hi, I want to convert eac3 tracks to another codec like ac3. But I the number of streams of the eac3 tracks are different.
So is the conversion possible?
Has anyone done this please advise? Thanks!

What do you mean by 'the number of streams of the eac3 tracks'? Do you mean the number of channels?

Also: what software do you usually use for a conversion like this?
Music: sounds arranged such that they construct feelings.
