Title: Extract files from .mka?
Post by: Eleo on 2004-07-14 07:26:14
I downloaded a supposedly lossless album and I got an mka file.  Apparently it contains a cue sheet and one flac file.  I don't know much about Matroska but I'd rather have the cue sheet and flac file outside of this .mka thing.  I haven't seen anything about how to extract files from a .mka.  Is it possible at all?

You can use mkvextract from mkvtoolnix to extract the streams.
You can find the latest version here http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/ (http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/)

There's also mkvextractgui.  It's in french, but it's simple enough to use if you can read english.  I could only find some links on this forum, and not an actual web site for it.

This can be done with either

- the matroska shell extension ( matroskaprop.exe ; also included in the full pack (http://packs.matroska.org), but not installed automatically )

- the matroska CDL coming with TCMP 4.01 (http://corecoded.com)

Its a separate tab in the 'matroska info' page ....

I have already downloaded foo_input_matroska-0.9.2.0.dll for my foobar 0.942, still
I found that only a few types of mka files are supported.
Googling for some ideas how to extract the files froma single .mka file, and finally I was redirected to this thread.

I use fb2k 0.9.4.3 using the same version of foo_input_matroska as you, and I have no problems decoding AC3 and DTS to WAV.

So, what type of file is stored in your Matroska container, and to what type of codec are you trying to decode to?
