How do I calculate scale from gain?

I was hoping I could find a quick tutorial on how to calculate scale form gain. I came across this formula, 10E(gain * 0.05), but I don't know how to use it. Can someone give this bonehead an example using a calculator? Thanks!

I think they intended 10^(gain*0.05).

Thank you Garf, that was it! Now I can just plug 10^(-5*0.05) into Google for example and get 0.562341325. Sweet!
