Actually not fixed. when i play a song after opening foobar2000 I get the following error.

Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported format

but when i try and play the track again it works. If i close foobar2000 and reopen it will behave the same way, error on first play and work on the second play.

The hotlinking is broken because the link is http and the forum is https, and any browser which enforces security rules will block http resources, rather than downgrade the page security.

Deleting source: then first make sure that it is indeed an aac. I think this line will take any file and try to make .m4a out of it, and then delete the source no matter what, correct? And it doesn't show up in your trash folder either.
Correct, the delete fuction should be handeled with care. Can of course be removed.

@MojoBass is also right that for AAC you will sometimes need to use the -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc
(and I don't think it ever hurts to include it, am I right?)
Actually I did not dig deeper into ffmeg options, basically got it from a google reseaech quite some time ago and it works.
Main message of my post was that there is as well the possibility to convert aac to m4a within the foobar UI.

What Windows version, what audio device?

This is the Windows 10 Sandbox.  I see I didn't make that clear, other than the funky user name.  It's a virtual device.  Picture shows what I mean.  Like I wrote, JB2112 (always has only done wasapi output) operates fine in this, even in super-takeover mode.  I've only used the beeper exes.

Just checked again.  Whooops.  Sorry. Exclusive mode does not work in the Sandbox.  Nor does event.  Only shared timer. At least it reports not supporting exclusive mode or event.  Is that the problem with the beepers?  Only doing exclusive?  And/or event?  FWIW, I can force the format (i.e., select the sample rate, bitsize, etc.) in shared mode w/timer notify...all I ever use, but that's only 'almost like' exclusive mode.  In short, I suppose you can never mind this.  Unless you want to run in the sandbox (and probably RDP, too).

The 48kHz version of this filter is just a warped version of the 44.1kHz filter and probably could be improved by shifting the HF shelf up in frequency a little bit since 48k has a bit more room and being more conservative against bat-ears is probably more important than more noise suppression.
This process can increase the peak level of the signal (in theory by the peak error of 1.5 +20 dB though this much is unobservable rare) so to avoid clipping the signal is attenuated by a couple thousandths of a dB. Initially the approach taken here was to only attenuate by the 99.9th percentile, making clipping rare but not impossible (like SoX) but the limited gain of the filter means that the worst case was only two thousandths of a dB more, so this just uses the worst case.
The attenuation is probably also helpful to prevent clipping in the DAC reconstruction filters or downstream resampling in any case.

Do you want PCM requantization or compression?  If the former, Sox is a good choice, but there are many other options too.  If you want compression, FLAC or MP3 have better compression than DPCM.
