Interpolating LFE from 5.0 Sound

Hello!

I have discrete 5.0 sound (FR, FL, C, RR, RL), but I want to convert it to 5.1 sound for burning it to a DVD.
So I have to interpolate a LFE channel from the other ones.

I don't think its a big problem to do so, e.g. by mixing all the low frequences of the other channels into this .1 channel...

Onfortunately I don't know why  ...

So I hope to get your help! Thanks!

1 - open all the channels (FR, FL, C, RR, RL) with Adobe Audition or Cool Edit Pro
2 - save to wav (File / Save MixDown As...)

with GoldWave :
3 - convert the stereo wav file to mono
4 - apply Lowpass Filter or Equalizer Preset "Only bass"
5 - increase volume if needed
