When I have foobar paused or stopped and I press next or previous I would like it to not start playing the song that comes up automatically, is this possible?
Don't press next or previous.
Or do you mean it should play the selected track? I don't know Winamp behaviour, please explain.

Maybe I should add why I want this function.
I have all my music in one playlist, set to
shuffle tracks. Sometimes I wish to skip songs until find one I want to listen to, but it's annoying to hear the beginnings of the songs I skip. Pressing
next,
pause,
next,
pause,
next,
pause is equally annoying.
Therefore I think it would be better if the song didn't start playing when foobar is set to
pause or
stop.
Ok, now I get it.
I don't know a solution to the actual problem, but why do you have to press pause before skipping to the next song? Just press next.
He wants the pause button to be 'sticky' so he can scroll through his playlist via the next key without hearing a second or so of multiple songs as he looks for the right track to play. He then wants to hit pause to release and start play.
Not sure why it is a problem to click within a playlist the song he wants to play.

I want foobar to suggest songs for me with the shuffle mode, I don't want to think for myself what I want to listen to.
Not a total solution for you, but you can take that large playlist and sort>random. At least you would see what Foobar wants to play next.

I will try this out and see how it goes, but this method requires regular re-randomizing.
Also, sometimes I listen to full albums, so when using this method I will have to sort back to
album or
file path. Kind of ungainly.
Sorting one playlist via Sort>Random will not change other playlists.
Have you set Foobar to show just one playlist at a time?
Change the playlist element to a Tabbed Playlist container and insert the playlist element within.
One tab your full playlist random sort. Any number of other playlists set to view entire albums.
Again, not a full solution, but closer.

I'll try this, thank you for the help.
