Please be aware that much of the software linked to or mentioned on this forum is niche and therefore infrequently downloaded. Lots of anti-virus scanners and so-called malware detectors like to flag infrequently downloaded software as bad until it is either downloaded enough times, or its developer actually bothers with getting each individual release allow listed by every single AV vendor. You can do many people a great favor when encountering such a "problem" example by submitting them to your AV vendor for examination. For almost everything on this forum, it is a false positive.

Support - (fb2k) / foobar2000 v1.6.5 - Album Art Viewer showing wrong cover during track change
Last post by Snowknight26 -
When changing tracks, under specific circumstances, the wrong album art is shown in the Album Art Viewer element.

Let's say you're changing tracks from one album (A) to another (B). It's possible that when changing from track A -> B, the album art for track Z is shown between A and B while track B is preparing to play.

Little tricky to reproduce but I'll try my best to describe what settings I think cause this issue.
  • Cursor follows playback
  • Preferences -> Display -> Prefer current selection

Assume you have the following elements displayed:
  • Album List
  • Album Art Viewer
  • Playlist View (with Library Viewer Selection playlist)

Assign a global hotkey to Playback -> Random.
In the Library Viewer Selection playlist, double click on a random track (track A) to start playing it. The album art for that track should appear in the Album Art Viewer since that track is selected.
Single click a different track (track B) in the Library Viewer Selection playlist so that the Album Art Viewer shows its artwork.
Make foobar2000 lose focus, such as by clicking on another window or the taskbar. The artwork for track A should now show.
Press the global hotkey for Playback -> Random.
Before the next random track (track C) starts playing, the artwork for track B shows momentarily before the artwork for track C shows.

This basically causes foobar2000 to have to decode/resize artwork for an additional track that it thinks is selected, making the UI a little less responsive.

Well ... for world domination I guess.
Support in web browsers could make a huge difference.

Did you hear about FLIF image codec? Its author is working on the JPEG XL now, and all the best ideas from FLIF were used in the new codec, with some cool additions which make the new image codec truly universal. The format itself is basically a mixture of FUIF (from the author of FLIF), PIK and Brunsli image codecs. Google is already testing it in Chromium. When it is supported by major browsers, the format will become much more popular.

A similar thing could happen with a new cool lossless audio codec.
Development - (fb2k) / Foobar - rewind function for streaming...
Last post by Coris -
I would like to suggest to the Foobar developers, the adding or implementing of a new function in Foobar player, very useful in playing back streamed content: REWIND function.
It is very usefully when playing back over Internet (radio), the possibility to go back, and resume the playback from an earlier time stamp than the present one. A such rewind function it mean an enough large buffer, where the streamed content should be temporarily stored, making possible the return to a previous time index, or at the beginning of the playback session. The Seekbar is very appropriate for a such functionality. As usually, when playing back files residing on computer or so, the seekbar it allow the rewind function, but for streamed content, this is not functional. Please make it functional also for steaming...

Yes, I will do that
Probably Ubuntu-based Linux Distributions.

Many Many Thanks.

Do you mean that this fresh foobar install fails to launch?
Code: [Select]
$ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.foobar2000 wine "/path/to/foobar2000_v1.6.4.exe"
$ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.foobar2000 wine "$HOME/.foobar2000/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/foobar2000/foobar2000.exe"
I verified myself it works.

As for your custom foobar config, one of the 3rd party components might require vcrun2015 so you can try to (re)install it with winetricks.
Code: [Select]
wine: Call from 7B0100F6 to unimplemented function api-ms-win-core-winrt-error-l1-1-0.dll.RoOriginateError, aborting
That's the reason anyway your foobar is crashing on launch. I don't know what changed with wine 6.6 to cause it, try asking on winehq forums.

I am sorry to disturb you, but I just asked the question above because, from what I noticed, it is only possible to scan selected tracks in the playlist, and not the complete library, as with the previous version of the component, which I use again.

Anyway, I like a lot your component. Thanks again.
