hi,
I just read about a nice service which might be interessting for a bunch of us, since foosic is dead.
http://echoprint.me/ (http://echoprint.me/)
http://the.echonest.com/ (http://the.echonest.com/)
This is a audio-fingerprinting service like shazam, but opensource. Just have a look at it. There might be some component-ideas which could use this service.
I came across that last month, while learning dbpedia as part of RDF/Semantic Web, then tried scripting foobar with echonest Python API (they offer various languages APIs).
I tried to retrieve some basic data and was pleasantly surprised that they return values even for some obscure artists, and they offer interesting services I haven't had a chance to try.
It would be nice if someone got interested over this or OTOH research possibilities of Semantic web in general.
On a basic level user could script Biography view component, some advance features or integrated scheme could only end as separate component I guess.
There might be some component-ideas which could use this service.
In regard to their api (http://developer.echonest.com/docs/v4/) it seems that many many components are possible. Great!

you can do most things there through WSH panel mod. here's a quick bodge i've knocked together, it needs a lot more work though.
