EAC - Lame genre tag not working

Hi,
I have a simple question that I cannot find the answer too.

I am using EAC to rip my CD's then encode them with Lame.

Using this guide:
http://users.pandora.be/satcp/eac-qs-en.htm

I have configured Lame with the following switches:

-V 2 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d

However, when I rip my tunes, I notice that the Genre field is not filled.  According the the Lame help file, the switch --tg will enter the genre. However, I have no idea what variable to pass to it?  Are these fields being pulled from CDDB? If so, what is the variable? I've tried %I and %b and both crap out during Lame compression.

Thanks
Durrock

--tg "%m" will do what you want.

A list of flags you can use in EAC to pass parameters to the encoder can be found here as the last question in the Compression section, http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/eac11.html#Compression

in EAC under compression options, there is a check box "Add ID3 tags"

This will add the all the CD information from the EAC interface in the proper format for LAME. You only have to specify the compression settings.

But if you still want to do in manually, see this HA wiki:

EAC secure | FLAC  --best -V -b 4096 | LAME 3.97 -V0 -q0 -b32

Best to add this, as well. . . . .

Code: [Select]
--ignore-tag-errors
