Copying ReplayGain data between two tracks... possible?

I keep my music collection in lossless (wavpack and flac, mostly wavpack), but I also want to start keeping lossy copies on my hard drive so that I don't have to transcode every time I want to put music on my portable (PalmOS device, supports wma and mp3 only). I've now converted all files to mp3, but I see that when I use the copy tags feature the ReplayGain data does not copy over. Is there a way to do this? Or will I have to re-calculate it for the entire collection? Obviously it's a "quick" thing to recalculate, but when you're doing an entire collection it can take a while.

ReplayGain values are not the same for lossy compressed files.

They would be inaccurate if you just copied them from the lossless files.

Edit: Thus, foobar2000 doesn't support this.

But they theoretically should be the same for lossless files.
If you have a replaygained FLAC album and convert it to WavPack for instance the replaygain tags are not copied though theoretically they should be the same. You have to analyze the files again.
Is there a fix for this?

Ahh, very astute point; I had not thought of this. Thanks for the info!

I think (not sure) you can use mp3tag for this.
