HDD buzzing and making loud noises each time foobar starts up

Hi, with my new computer, my 4tb Toshiba HDD is buzzing like whack for minutes after I start foobar, it really sucks. It seems it is rescanning the entire folders instead of monitoring changes in the selected music folders for library. What to do?

Is the drive formatted with the ntfs filesystem?

Have you set it to rescan on startup?  That's on folder-by-folder basis. Preferences->Media library and right-click one of the folders.
