Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel

I've been listening to DM's new album for a few tens of times, especially on my portable CD player. Seems that is VERY loud. Honestly this is the only album that I cannot listen at full volume (on my portable CD player).
I've seen their clips on TV and seems that they are not as loud as the album versions (at least Pain that I'm used to).
So what do you think? Is it or not badly mastered? Or it's only my rip?

It is compressed and limited to death and the distortion is just awful. So you are not the only one who noticed this.
IIRC one song had a replaygain value of -12.
