Mp3gain 0.9.6 Beta

http://www.geocities.com/mp3gain

Okay, this time I think it's really, REALLY the final Beta before release 1.0.0

No new features, just some improvements:

1) When processing a list of files, if you have not set an Error Log file, each error message (if any) that pops up will give you the option to set this log file immediately.

2) When processing a list of files, if you do have an Error Log set, then if MP3Gain encounters X number of errors along the way, then it will pop up a message after all processing has completed, saying, "X errors occured during processing. Would you like to view the Error Log now?"

3) Added some code to the back end so that it will not choke on certain kinds of corrupt mp3s it was still choking on. Now, even if you only have a few seconds' worth of good data in your mp3, mp3gain.exe will scan through the whole thing, hoping to find any more good data

4) If you have a language file "XXX.mp3gain.ini" and a Help file "MP3GainXXX.chm" in the MP3Gain folder, then when that language is selected in the GUI, the Help > Contents menu will open the corresponding Help file. Currently only German and Spanish have .chm files, but others are on their way.

Umm... I think that's about it.

Regarding that bug that was discovered, does that mean I'm going to have to re-normalize my entire collection?  How does MP3Gain handle a track if it's all normalized except for the last few frames?  Is it smart enough to just do what has to be done or is the entire file fux0red?

???
I hadn't even noticed. I'll try not to let the power go to my head

As for the "final frames" bug (see the MP3Gain page for details), well, listen to your files and honestly ask yourself which ones are really worth the bother.

If you do have a few files where you can actually hear the problem, then before you replace mp3gain.exe with the new version (1.3.0) you can use the old version (1.2.3) to undo the volume changes.
If you do not have a Change Log (which you can specify in Options > Logs...), then you'll have to just guess. If the tiny bit at the end is louder than the rest (which is most likely), then use Constant Gain to turn up the volume until you can't hear a difference any more. Then you can use the new MP3Gain to adjust the volume back down and it will do the whole file correctly.

...or you could just use MP3Trim ( http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim ) and snip off that last frame or two

I really don't think that this will be a big issue for most people. No one had ever even mentioned anything to me about it before.
Then again, it might be one of those situations where you wouldn't have noticed if no one had ever said anything to you, but now that you know about it, it will drive you crazy. If that's the case, then I apologize. Seriously.

Something strange. After loading files the list of them doesen't appear. It looks like Mp3gain uses white font on my system (win2k + sp2)
