with AAC/MPEG4 support in Quicktime6, and overall improvements in iPod range, maybe there's a way for us to get Apple to give AAC support in the iPod's ...or (and?) Vorbis or (and) ...

i was hoping to see support for other formats in their next release of ipod, but this one came quicker than i thought. aac maybe, but i doubt we'll see mpc or ogg support on the ipod anytime soon. which would be the selling point for me, even if i had to pay over $800(canadian) for that 20 gig one. on the other hand, apple has always been ahead of their time and good at tapping into niche markets. what would be really great is if they incorporated their darwin project into the ipods firmware updates, and developers could create their own decoders. i dont know if this would be possible or not, but it would be nice

iPod fully integrated with the award-winning PC media player — MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus.

Just 2 things to say:
1.) MUSICMATCH Jukebox sucks.
2.) MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus costs money.
EphPod seems to do the same for free.

EDIT: OOPS.

Requirements You must have Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP, a firewire card, and mac-drive-reading software (i.e. MacOpener).

Order MacOpener for only .95!

Ephpod is one amazing product.  It's not entirely free because you need MacOpener or MacDrive, but it's well worth it.

The interface is nice, the developer (Joe) is always on the listserver and incorporates features as users ask for them.  I personally sent in $40 and asked Joe for a feature to sync up my iPod with a local directory... three months later, I have my feature.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that asked for it, but still, having the developer listen and respond to your needs is a wonderful thing.

Even if I decide to get the new 20GB iPod, I will continue to use Ephpod as my windows "syncer".

What's the difference between Ephod and Xplay by mediafour?

XPlay works too... but Ephpod was what I decided to go with.  XPlay is a "package" deal that installs a limited version of MacDrive and their XPlay software.

To be honest, I haven't really checked out XPlay lately (I was tired of waiting for their delayed product) and have found all that I could want (and more) in Ephpod.  I'm sure XPlay is a good product too... you should check out both and decide for yourself... or just wait for the Apple "approved" Windows iPod.

Nice that they added a remote control !
It seems that the 10GB version is also thiner.

Unfortunately it can't record, like the Archos ones...
