CD Hardware/Software / Re: Static on newly Ripped Flacs and MP3s
Last post by fooball -
The problem I have with following this is that "static" AKA "white noise" (if it really is that, the OP has not confirmed) can only really be introduced in the analogue domain.  Whatever signal problems there might be in the digital domain are going to result in detectable data corruption and failed operations.

Presuming the above is true, then any white noise should be the same for any audio source being fed through the same signal path – and the OP says other sources behave properly.

Therefore, something in the above must be incorrect... and I propose what's incorrect is the description of "static" as white noise.  Some samples should reveal a great deal.

Last effort for tonight. I tried with a different power connector in a different port on the power supply no luck. I think I have eliminated just about every possibility except there are USB slots directly above the CD burner 2 of which are not connected to the header because I don't have enough USB 3.1 headers(just one). I am waiting for a connector from NewEgg (ordered a week ago)that will allow me to connect those USB slots to a USB 2.0 header. Other possibility is I have to shell out a little for a new burner. Just seems odd that I tried the burner form the old PC which worked fine and it had the same issues as the new one

Foobar2000 2.0 Beta 16 - still the same bug in Directory Opus:

Selecting multiple audio files and hitting Enter in Directory Opus makes foobar2000 2.0 go through the audio files one by one and only playing the last one.

No such problem in foobar2000 1.6.
Right click, "Open in foobar2000" with multi selection = good behavior, my shell extension is invoked once with multiple files.
Hitting enter with multi selection = bad behavior, my shell extension is invoked multiple times with single files.
I'd have to wait for more files instead of starting playback instantly. Sounds to me like it's their bug not mine?

Very possible, but "their bug" is not present if using Foobar2000 1.6.

Hence something must have changed in Foobar2000 2.0 that specifically results in this "Hitting enter with multi selection = bad behavior, my shell extension is invoked multiple times with single files".

Solution seemed to be to use K3B which I didn't think of as I use that for video mainly. Unfortunately it didn't work. I am giving in for now will try a few things later. Thanks for all the help everyone has offfered!

I thought it strange that your DVD-ROM device does not appear in your inxi dump and this guy's issue also had that symptom.  He found a workaround for ripping, but the thread dies out before a real solution.

To me, that would be the first thing to confirm: is your DVD-ROM drive actually installed in your system?  Hopefully, someone with more knowledge of Mint/Ubuntu will comment.

Thanks for the link. Yes I can see it isn't listed under inxi command but it is listed in System profile under Storage devices. I will take a look at the thread. I tried updating the kernel which of course didn't work. I tried changing to a different  sata port on the motherboard. I can't figure this out. I will try one more time putting the DVD/CD burner that was in my last working system

It's been tweaked a bit since (of course).
https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,58574.msg982582.html#msg982582

2 years on, similar but tighter; and playing music has never been more enjoyable thanks to the work of @WilB @regor @marc and Peter of course.

Looking forward to v.2 with the hopes of better performance on a large library although not complaining given my current customization overhead.
