Ogg Vorbis - Tech / Re: Vorbis 1.3.7 aoTuV and Lancer patches
Last post by Kraeved -
The follow-up question related to my bug report about Lancer mod hosted on RareWares.

I am confused by the size of out.original.generic.ogg (46 825 bytes) compared to other files. Of course, different builds may have different relations with mathematics (the notorious floating point), which I have witnessed more than once during the ongoing revival of Helix MP3 encoder. But is it acceptable to get the difference of 5 kilobytes and more between the output of the x86 version and the same code, but compiled for x64? For example, the difference between the results of Aoyumi own builds (so-called Venc) is only 4 bytes, the difference between the results of reference Vorbis builds compiled by Chocobo1 is 2 bytes, and there is no difference at all between FFMPEG x86 and x64.

Scientific Discussion / Re: SuperFast LAME multi-threaded MP3 encoder
Last post by Kraeved -
This topic didn't get much attention, and the Github repository was archived on December 11, 2020. Why, @enzo?

As far as I understand, MP3 format, due to its design (the notorious reservoir of bits), does not favor multicore encoding, but you, describing the technical details, stated that it was possible without loss of quality. I encoded two WAV PCM files (44.1 kHz 16 bit stereo and 11025 Hz 16 bit mono) using SuperLame as follows: freaccmd.exe in.wav -e superlame.

The latter one failed.

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Biography Discussion

Okay, have not managed to get the auto download of images to work, but I have been using 'Album Art Downloader' to update all my album art and extra art recently. It got me thinking that I should just set the Artist image view to custom load folder to my music collection so it just shows the art I have been downloading.. Sorry for the stupid question but im just unsure how to set that correctly so that it just looks in my local collection which is organized as: G:\Music\Artist\Album
Greatly appreciate the help again and excuse me if this is confusing, truly new to all of this but learning lots on the way!

CD Hardware/Software / Re: CD rip has numerous timing problems
Last post by korth -
A few things that may cause timing problems:
Disc flaws,
label scratched or separating from polycarbonate,
scuffed, scratched or cloudy polycarbonate,
drive may have an issue with the reflective properties of a particular CD,
CD spinning too fast,
and probably more I can't think of.

Multiple attempts to read once can be expected.
CUERipper is able to do C2 error correction in Burst mode so up to 15 re-reads are possible if C2 error correction support detected.
