ui_element_common_methods_v2::toggle_fullscreen() without second instance

Is there a way to use ui_element_common_methods_v2::toggle_fullscreen() without it creating a second instance of the element?

Or, if that is not possible, what's the cleanest way to have the fullscreen instance get the same configuration as the small version?
