Strange DVD Audio Problem

I have a very strange issue with my HTPC which consists of the following:

mobo - Shuttle SN45G (nforce 2 w/ Soundstorm)
video - ATI AIW 9600 Pro

My issue is that when playing DVD's and pausing and un-pausing the video, the center channel gets moved to the back left channel. Then when I pause and un-pause again, it switches to the front left channel, then back to the center. I have no idea what causes this and it is very annoying. I have tried both WinDVD 5 Platinum and PowerDVD 5 Deluxe and they both have the same issue. This leads me to believe it is a Soundstorm issue but I really just don't know. Any suggestions or clues?
