48khz And Alt-presets

been searching in vain for the reason(s) why it isn't best to use 48KHz files along with the alt-presets, but I can't find it, can anyone remember?

iirc it's because Lame's psymodel in general isn't tuned much for 48khz..

ah yes. wonder if it would be advisable to SSRC resample to 44.1KHz before encoding then...probably
