hmm... i haven't posted in a while
let me see if i can pick out just 5... no particular order here.

Our Lady Peace - Naveed (also my favourite debut album)
Econoline Crush - The Devil You Know (other albums i have heard were garbage in comparison)
Tool - Lateralus (very talented guitarist... don't agree with lyrics  )
Weezer - The Blue Album (too much fun on this album)
I Mother Earth - Scenery and Fish (great group before the singer went solo)

two honourable mentions:
Danko Jones - Born a Lion
Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape (Everlong is easily among the greatest rock tracks of the 90s)

some less-known bands some people should look into (all from Toronto):
The Full Nine (released their first album this year)
Big Sugar (been around for a while, i own 2 albums, great stuff ... hard rock mixed with jazz styles, dub, and a tiny hint of reggae in some tracks)
Mudmen (hard rock guitars with... bagpipes! unique to my ears)

some comments on other posts:
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream is FAR superior to Mellon Collie, IMHO. the latter album has too many tracks where Billy Corgan is trying too hard to sound sentimental and beautiful. i don't think it suits the band at all. Siamese is brilliant, and would make my list easily, but i wanted to focus on albums i actually own (always too expensive when i find it)

also, in my handfull of listenings, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was more enjoyable than The Wall...

some favourites of mine from the past, to show how my tastes have changed over the past couple of years:
Infected Mushroom - BP Empire (two guys playing Goa-Trance from Israel)
Talamasca - Beyond the Mask
Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation (far less recent)

/me listens to The Hives - Hate to Say I Told You So

The Cult...I remember the first time I heard She Sells Sanctuary, and how I used to play it over and over.  Then the Love album came out and I played it over and over.  Great memories of college days in San Francisco and my first apartment in the Haight.

Also, It's cool to see Jesus Christ Superstar here a couple of times.  It's really an amazing album.  I wanna go back and add it to my list.    For those who may be  interested, there was a tribute album that came out in the U.S. in 1994 called Jesus Christ Superstar: A Resurrection on Daemon Records.  It's pretty good, mostly unknown bands.  Amy Ray (from The Indigo Girls) sings the part of Jesus.

After reading thru this I was able to make list of albums that could end up on my list though I'll probably forget the most important ones.

Beatles - Revolver

Beatles - The White album (there are much crap on this album but also much great stuff...maybe they should have made a single lp instead, but that a whole other story)

Andrew L. Webber & Tim Rice - Jesus Christ Superstar (I actually think the danish version is better than the english)

The mamas & the papas - The mamas & the papas (sadly I don't own any of the original albums....yet)

The Les Humphries Singers - Greatest Hits (again I don't have any of the original albums)

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

Queen - A night at the opera

I should also have a pink floyd album on this list but I simply don't which one I prefer.

Wie will man z.B. Tangerine Dream - "Quichotte" mit  Madonna - "Ray of light"
vergleichen?

mindestens notwendig:

- Sparteneinteilung
- Berücksichtigung des Alters
- Fehlerrechnung
