I actually wanted to test OPUS, but realized I encoded into the wrong format after I was done with the second test, so I just rolled with it. Because OPUS is better than Vorbis, that would probably mean that a 96 kbps file would be equal to a 224 kbps MP3 or so. I'll note that these tests were hard, so even a 96 kbps MP3 would sound the same as a lossless file under normal listening circumstances. I did the tests with regular ear buds in a quiet room.

It is a stretch to say that 6/8 and 6/8 means they are equally good. If you decided up-front to test each eight listens, it is fair to say that they aren't both transparent to you - but for example, that is not the same as to say that they are both intransparent to you.
