Focusrite Saffire 24 skipping playback

Hey guys,

I'm experiencing some worrying skipping with my first boot up of my Saffire 24. Music playback sounds as normal in my speakers (Not attached to Saffire) but headphone playback via my interface sounds distant, skipping, loss of whole frequencies, reverberated, empty. No effects or anything has been added to the mix, just playback with foobar2000, latency is set on low, preamp dial is positioned halfway at '5'.

There is definitely something wrong whether it's an a firewire input issue, preamp issue, hardware issue, I really don't know.

What does it sound like to you guys? I've tried searching and reading their manual but I can't work it out

Thanks
Frank

You will probably have more people knowing the answer to your question if you ask your question over at TapeOP, KVRaudio or Gearslutz. Those message boards are more specialised towards recording and equipment used in that area. Some people on this board believe on-board sound cards are enough so I guess not too many here buy Focusrite's products. Just a tip.

I can give you most common answer they give you on message boards when people are having problems with firewire soundscards. Do you have a firewire card / chipset made by Texas Instruments (TI)? These are highly recommended to people using firewire sound cards.

Gearslutz!! How could I forget hehe

Cheers bro

EDIT: Just stopped your edit. I'm not sure, the firewire output is at the front of my PC. I doubt it's the best built thing. I've been looking at TI pci firewire cards to maybe remedy my problem
