m4p can't be played with foobar2000

I've been using foobar2000 for a long time, years, and it won't play any m4p files. Looked online to see if there was a decoder and it was said that foobar2000 supports m4p files, but try to play them and nothing but errors. foobar2000 won't even list the files in the "All Music: Any suggestions?
I forgot to mention I'm up to date with version 1.3.16

M4P, aren't they DRM'ed?
Yes, its almost easier to convert flac to m4a than to get m4p to play anywhere. Which is what I originally wanted to do is play my flac with my other music i dont really care what player I use.

Especially since Apple no longer sells M4P files, as everything available now is twice the bitrate and unprotected.
