I'm on v1.3.1 and if I lose power resulting in an 'improper shutdown' of Windows I notice foobar loses all playback history from the last time it was properly shutdown. Not a huge deal but I've noticed playlist info can be lost as well. Can somebody let me know if this was remedied at one point and if so I'll upgrade and if not then I'll report a bug. thx
Maybe give this a try https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_jesus
Otherwise try the portable of latest version and see if the same thing happens?
This is not a bug per se just how foobar works. The session is kept in memory until successful shutdown or [hold shift key] > File > Save Configuration. You can set foo_jesus to run that command automatically every X minutes or after X tracks played in Preferences > Advanced > Autosave... (I would not set it too low however, does not need to be every minute)
I'll give it a try thanks!

Thanks for that suggestion. I found that upgrading from v1.5.2 to v1.6.2 (and beyond), I could successfully close the program and run it again, automatically resuming playback on startup as intended (using this in a car, part of an infotainment solution). Restarting Windows during playback was also fine. But the moment I performed a shutdown and then powered up the PC, it would never resume playback.
Rolling back to v1.5.2 resolved this but I will upgrade again and try this foo_jesus setting.
It sounds more like you want to disable Windows 10's Fast Startup feature, because apparently your computer can never restore a hibernate state properly.

Sorry, I should have mentioned this is on Windows 7.
Well, crud. There goes that idea. Not sure if Windows 7 ever had anything like that. I think "Fast Startup" was added in 8, though.
kode54: Windows 7 does have a restore all current program states/settings if "Hibernate" is used, but I don't know if this is what is failing in the OP's case or not as I recall it has to be invoked manually, not by a normal shutdown.

Definitely no hibernation going on here. Purely a shutdown, initiated by the actuation of the power button of the NUC being used.
Since my FLAC files populate the library automatically and play out reliably with v1.5.2, I'll just stick with that. Thanks guys!
