is there a possibility similar to cuetools to access the latest flac.exe version via a custom profile?
In 2.1.7, FLAC can be updated by replacing libFLAC_dynamic.dll in CUETools_2.1.7\plugins\win32 and CUETools_2.1.7\plugins\x64. You can use the builds by John33 https://www.rarewares.org/lossless.php
If you insist on adding flac.exe, the easiest way is to first add to CUETools then copy all lines of the new ExternalEncodernn section from CUE Tools\settings.txt to CUERipper\settings.txt making sure to adjust the nn as needed and adjust ExternalEncoders=nn by +1
edit: the location of the settings folders depend on whether or not you're running as portable

great, thank you very much.
good to know that you can also take the detour via the exe, but the dll variant is of course much more universal and simple.
so, i've replaced both dlls (x32, x64), but now getting an exception: arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.
i am using wine, but found a similar issue here https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?topic=116743.0.
I've only tested rarewares builds on Windows x64. I haven't tried any of the other unofficial builds (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?topic=118008.0).
maybe i am wrong, but netranger offers exe builds only, no dlls.
i think i might try a custom config with cuetools then.
Ozz started posting builds after NetRanger said https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?msg=976150

no luck with this one either ;)
exception: unable to retrieve metadata.
wonder if it works for win users?
nevermind - i have not used cueripper in a while (especially with libflac as encoder), so i retested with vanilla 2.1.7 and i am getting the same error as with the rarewares build. does not happen with cuetools own encoder though.
exception: unable to retrieve metadata.
I've noticed intermittent issues with CTDB today also (unreachable).
