This question has been asked more than once, but never answered, because the OP found art online that EAC could access and dropped the question.
I have several CD's for which there is no art online (local independent releases). Is there a way to get EAC to use my own scan of the album art that is located on my local hard drive?
If by "use my own scan of the album art" you mean embed local album art in your files, EAC is not the tool you use to do this. Download and install Mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/). After using EAC to rip your CD, put a copy of the album art at a reasonable size (e.g. 600px square) in the same folder as your music files and name it cover.jpg, then follow steps here (http://techie-buzz.com/music-tools/embed-album-art-mp3-files.html).
and name it cover.jpg
For embedding you can name it whatever you like - as long as it's a jpg or a png file MP3Tag doesn't care. If you name it folder.jpg then it will also appear as the folder icon for that album in Windows Explorer.
I have not used EAC for several years. But I think you can simply drag and drop your artwork into EAC....

Thanks for the responses. I can, indeed, drag and drop a local image into EAC. Previously, I had tried dragging and dropping, but for some reason, it did not seem to work. However, there must have been something wrong with my setup, as it just now worked like a champ. After the initial failure with dragging and dropping, I then searched in vain for some menu item or a right-click option to select it.
I really want to use EAC for this, as it is an extra step to fiddle with yet another program, when I have to rip the CD’s anyway, and EAC is capable of embedding the image at the same time. I am about to head up a group project of ripping over 4,000 CD’s for a local community radio station, and it would be tedious to rip the tracks and still have to insert the images with other software. Now we can just scan the cover art if acceptable images are not available during the EAC image search. However, I do use MP3tag to correct mistakes in already-ripped material.
Again, thanks for the help, and for anybody searching for how to insert your own image into EAC, this thread appears to be the first to actually confirm that dragging and dropping is the way it is done.
Do you actually _need_ embedded cover art to work with the software that you use? If not, I've always found working with separate cover.jpg files to be a lot simpler. If you later want to replace a cover with a better/bigger/smaller one, you just toss a new image file into the album folder.
