How would I wire this setup?

Greetings,

Right. I'm planning to wire up my Playstation 2 to my PC monitor (Dell US 24in) and was wondering how I allow this setup to play the game sound out of my speakers, and record the audio into the PC in real time.

The Playstation has RCA plugs; 1 for composite video, 2 for stereo sound. I've purchased a VGA switch box (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proxima-Direct%C2%AE-S-Video-Co...) that converts the composite video into a vga output and then onto my PC monitor. The 2 stereo phono plugs will plug into an adapter which changes them to a single 3.5mm jack.

Can I put the speaker jack and the PS2 audio jack into a twin female splitter-to-single 3.5mm jack and run it into my PC? The only reason I could see why it wouldn't work is because 2 separate audio feeds are being sent via 1 single jack.

Otherwise can this be done with an audio mixer or external sound interface? I would have to attach 1/4 in jack plugs to them and run the output into my PC

Would a cheap USB stereo sound card be sufficient to accept a second audio source? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-Stereo-Sound-Card-Adaptor/d...)

Suggestions?

Thanks, Paul

EDIT: My speakers has RCA phono aux inputs. Could I run the stereo output from the PS1 into these speakers and then send that through the existing jack running to my PC?

These two parts (or equivalent) will do the job:
1. http://www.amazon.com/Male-Female-Piggybac...TQP0HXXAWCFCSJ9
2. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032JAG4...SXDKDBNSKH3VRM6

Run part 1 from the Playstation to the speakers with the "piggyback" end at the Playstation.  Run part 2 from the piggyback connector to your PC line in.

Brilliant, cheers buddy.

When I said RCA plugs I should of specified that these aren't female outputs on the playstation itself, but rather male outputs on the end of a cord. Factoring this in, I figure using this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001D8E51I/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item) would remedy this issue?

Also found some piggyback phonos aswell. A little harder to find in the UK, dunno why, it's a great addition

Thanks

The general rule is that it's OK to "split" a signal and connect two (or more) inputs together.

However, it's NOT OK to "combine" two signals together by connecting two outputs directly together.  To mix two (or more) signals, you need a mixer.
