Ideally this header/seperator can have metadata attached - but this is optional.
It reads like you want group headings, or should at least try it.
  • Right click column heading row
  • Click Groups
  • Scroll down & click More...
  • In Custom Grouping Schemes at bottom click Add New
  • Assign it a Name i.e. Label / Album
  • In Pattern (depending on your metadata tag structure, the field name for the label tag and album tag, i.e. [%label%] / [%album%]

General Music Discussion / Explanation for the difference between Bandcamp and CD version.
Last post by trclst -
I bought the following album as a CD on Bandcamp.
https://biosphere.bandcamp.com/album/inland-delta-2

As far as I can tell, the CD is a professional pressing
with the inside CD ring label handlewithcare.de.

I like to back up my CDs on the PC with EAC Secure
so that I can play them more easily and get a secure copy.

I created spectrograms with the program sox ("sox CD.flac -n spectrogram -o CD.png").
Now I compared the digital Bandcamp version
(which you kindly get with it) with the CD and was amazed to
realize that there is a clear difference in the upper
frequency range of every track.

As if there was some kind of filter on the CD.
I am not an audio expert, but I wanted to find out if anyone knows where the difference comes from?

Despite the fact that the difference on the Spectrograms is relatively clear, I can't hear any difference with a "mid-range headphone  setup".

[Edit]
Bandcamp files are 24bit - 44.1kHz.
I noticed that the thread is probably better placed in https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/board,1.0.html

I just installed v. 0.4.2.1 and still both defects exist:
- can't use settings because the window does not fit on the screen and can't be properly shinked
I had no intention to do anything about it. Your use case is an edge case. I already spent too much time on the UI.
- frequencies/notes displayed on the bars are improper
No, they are not. They are displayed as intended.

No, the frequencies are wrong. I set the frequencies from 20Hz to 60001Hz - when pointing on bars, the freqs are right only to a certain freq. Let' s say about 16kHz (more of less, I do not have access to that lapto now) but they become 60001Hz right above that and always stay at 60001 no mater how far right or lest I go (above that "border" freq).

Hello again fbuser, I guess I'm ready to take up the challenge of preventing songs from the same album...

Before I start, the algorithms mentioned above are taken from a radio station. I was lucky enough to get in touch with the creator and he provided me with some sample SQL queries (as his radio station again uses SQL databases) to help me out.

When I implemented these queries it almost matched with how the Radio station selects songs but an issue crept up where when selecting songs to play from MediaLibrary, the SQL queries would not consider songs that had already been queued, and so I would experience two songs from the same album near one another (usually separated by one other song from another album).

The creator implemented a change into the database to maintain variety when listening and one such change was he made a  custom call to include queued songs when considering what to play next (Perhaps in our use case a custom table which contains the queued songs in Batch part?).

The custom call, allows the creator to look into circles (or album artists) that have played recently since the concept of circles (music groups, bands, etc.) didn’t exist in the program before this.

As a result, the system will attempt to space out songs from the same circle to further increase variety.

Now I know the queries I made will not space out songs from the same circle due to how it's made but would it be possible for you to assist me or know any idea as to how to achieve this to prevent songs from the same album/album artist appearing in a very short period? (If we prevent album artists this ultimately means preventing them from albums anyway hence the creator took this approach)

General - (fb2k) / PLAYING LIST- Displayable header text - file (seperator)
Last post by Jojozep -
I have a number of multi album folders holding collection of a particular artist and would like to have an entry in the PLAYING LIST to be used as a seperator (heading).

The screenshot show 2 audio tracks (12,01) and a header/seperator lable "300   Otis Blue, Otis Redding Sings Soul".

Ideally this header/seperator can have metadata attached - but this is optional.

I've tried having a MP3 file with 5 seconds of 'silence' but this gets corrupted (plays noise) when the mp3 file is passed through REPLAYGAIN.

Can anyone think of a way of having a file that will produce a silent header display on FooBar without displaying "Unable to open item for playback (Unsupported file format):
"E:\MUSIC\300   Otis Blue, Otis Redding Sings Soul".

Thanks

There is no bitstreaming in foobar2000. Its design intention is that all audio it plays goes through the same pipeline and everything is treated equal.
OK.  Well that explains a lot.  I will move on to something else.

I have to say, that  don't understand the use-case (in 2024) of having a audio-only player on a Windows machine that does not bitstream. Maybe I am missing something...

When initially I was not getting any comments on this thread I was going to suggest that there are no users working in surround!
