In advance, I should thank the developer for this nice plugin.
I'm a big fan of this plugin.

I have a minor question about sending the music files in the folder into the playlist.
When I send the files into the playlist by clicking the folder which have them, all the music files are selected.
And, this music selected display annoys me.

So, I'd like to know if there is any option by which I can deselect the listed files.

Hello JackieKu, I have the same crash problem as described by meDveD on my German Vista x86 SP1 and German MS Office 2007 Enterprise SP1. If I delete your plugin from component directory it works fine (but has no sence for me anymore  ). On XP machine with the same Office version - no problemo.

First please see the previous post.
I'd like to know why you two think this problem is related to M$ Office...

Is there a way to adjust the horizontal indent? I'm shooting for a minimal/compact look, and the indent's pretty high for my tastes. Pretty neat plugin otherwise though; does just about all that I want it to do -- thanks!

I'm having some trouble with this component-

I'm using foo_uie_explorer to browse a folder of samples.
I've added this folder D:\Samples to foo_uie_explorer's favorites, and I've also added it to my Foobar2000 media library.

I'm using an action for "Show content in 'Explorer View' playlist and play"

I do this hundreds of times in a row, to find the sound file I am looking for.
The problem is, every single time I do it, the "processing files" dialog box pops up.

I asked on the #Foobar2000 irc channel, and they said that I just need to add the files to the Media Library, then the "Processing Files" dialog will no longer pop up. However, that only works with foo_uie_albumlist, but it does not work with foo_uie_explorer. Even if the files are fully indexed in the Media Library, the most annoying "processing files" dialog keeps coming up over and over.

even if the file is currently playing from the albumlist and I click the same file in the uie_explorer, it still pops up?

Why does the foo_uie_explorer completely ignore the files that are already indexed in the media library and force-re processing them?

Is it possible that this could be fixed?

Thanks,
-Zin

Why does the foo_uie_explorer completely ignore the files that are already indexed in the media library and force-re processing them?

Because it's what it was intent to do. It doesn't a replacement of albumlist.

Dear sir,

Even though it's not designed to do this, what would be the "downside" to intelligently detecting that certain directories are already indexed in the Media Library, and therefore not re-scanning them when it can be avoided?

I think it would only be benefit to the user, I can't think of any good reasons to force the re-scan. At least it could be an option and that would really help.

I am using Foo_uie_explorer because I think the user interface is perfect, and it has support for good stuff like actions. The "by folders" view in the standard Album Lists can't do anything like that, and so I'm using foo_uie_explorer cause of the good UI.

With my humblest gratitude, I hope you will possibly consider adding an option to "don't rescan if indexed in media library" to a future version of foo_uie_explorer.

Yours, Zin

Yes, it's very strange.

Even if I just copy these files it won't start with your component:

foobar2000.exe
shared.dll
foo_ui_std.dll
foo_input_std.dll
portable_mode_enabled

This is what I have in my main foobar2000 folder:
So it's just your that won't work, any suggestions I can do?

Thanks.

I have some more tests, with a fresh installation of Win 7 RTM 32bit, without existed foobar2000 configuration. The components are the ones bundled in official foobar2000 0.9.6.9 installer plus foo_ui_columns (0.3.7.8 and 0.3.8.0) and foo_uie_explorer. I still can't reproduce the problem here.

If you have an anti-virus program installed, disable the on-access scanner may help. foo_uie_explorer.dll may be packed by UPX, some buggy AV can't recognize that. (why say it is buggy? UPX is open source and existed for years ...)

Been using this component for quite sometime now, one of the components i wouldn't want to be without really. There's just one thing that has been bugging me. As i tend to keep things packed up, mostly, in zip/rar which Foobar is capable of playing directly without unpacking first. However, foo_uie_explorer does not (by default) consider rar/zip as "playable file" so im left with either showing up all non-archives, everything or just archives in the explorer view. Perhaps zip/rar could be added to the playable file list or way to include file types/extensions in the options.

Thanks in advance!!!

It uses an API in the SDK to determine it is playable or not, I never use archives in foobar2000, so I did't know it doesn't work. However, I think you can force the archives to be shown by change the settings to "Only show the following types..." and input any file extensions you want. I won't make foo_uie_explorer to handle this special case.

Thanks for this plugin, it really helps to navigate through a huge media library where not all of the tags are perfect.

One minor issue - I use it on my notebook computer, which connects to different networks at work and at home. My music is stored on my network storage at home, which is attached as a network drive. This drive is of course unavailable when I start foobar2000 at work. When I later connect to my home network and access the network drive, it doesn't appear in the plugin's explorer tree, and there is no way to refresh the list of available drives, so I have to close and reopen foobar2000.

Is there any way to disable the drag/drop capability in the panel [for those of us who don't need it]? It's quite easy to "lose" a folder by accidentally moving it somewhere else. Thats one of the things I like about 1by1's directory viewer.

WTF?!?

Excellent observation, quasar0001, but a little late for me... I had to preinstall Win7 x64 because of that bug  .  With the fresh Win7 foobar2000+foo_uie_explorer worked well (because I forgot to disable the SERVER service obviously  ).

10x for the info though!

What, you don't have crash log tracker access yet?
These are issues with foo_uie_explorer 1.04.7c, sorted by frequency:

1/ In DirTreeCtrl::SelectByPath():
Code: [Select]
        if (prefs::bExpand && (hItem == GetSelectedItem())) {
                InsertChildren(hItem, false);
                Expand(hItem, TVE_EXPAND);
        }
If there is no item selected at all, NULL hItem can get through and cause chaos later.

2/ Handle exception_service_duplicated in CInitQuit::on_init(). Idiots have loaded "foo_ui_columns.dll" and "foo_ui_columns (2).dll" at the same time and other nonsense, which is probably much worse in the end, but why should it be your component which kills the whole application?

3/ DirTreeCtrl::OnGetDispInfo() somehow got TVIF_TEXT in lpItem->mask and NULL in lpItem->lParam for some reason, which is of course deadly.

4/ Something broke inside the destructor "delete pShellMenu" in CShellContextMenu::CloseShellMenu(), but I don't feel like analysing what exactly. Might be even hardware problem like overclocking, there is only one occurrence.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

I have received some minidumps from Peter, but when I feed it to Visual Studio I can only see some assembly codes. But I don't know assembly at all.
I haven't had the accesses to the crash log tracker, though.

Anyway, your informations are very useful. I'll attempt to fix the issues when I have time. Thank you.
