3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: foo_scrobble

Maybe someone else is insane enough to install their own distribution of vcpkg and install cpprest, so this thing can be built independently and verified?

One of the scanners on VirusTotal seems to think this is a piece of some recent ransomware. Probably a false positive.

Looks like bit defender doesn't like the fact that this dll uploads certain data to the Internet... I am guessing it by word 'cloud' invoked in threat name.

Make sure you don't have foo_input_dsdiff installed, as it also supports DSF files, but it can't tag them.

I am using Foobar2000 v1.3.17 on Windows 7 Pro. I am using dBpoweramp to rip a CD collection, I'm using the multi-encoder feature that allows for ripping two different file formats on one pass. I'm ripping the CD's to FLAC and MP3 320. I'm using Foobar2000 for playback and to check my genre categories, to ensure I don't have incorrect categories or improperly tagged artists, etc.

Today I noticed that when comparing the FLAC and MP3 libraries, by genre in Foobar view settings, a lot of the genre categories didn't match up. For example the Rock genre in FLAC indicated 45 artists tagged as Rock while the MP3 library only showed 25. Using Beyond Compare I confirmed both FLAC and MP3 libraries have identical folders, and I manually checked as well. I gave both libraries time to fully initialize in Foobar.

I know this might not even be a Foobar2000 issue but I've been doing the CD ripping for quite some time now and have never encountered this problem, I'm checking in Foobar and dBpoweramp forums. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you,

For some reason after my antivirus Bitdefender made an update it started catching foo_scrobble.dll as a threat and blocked it. The result is foobar2000 can't access the dll anymore. Strange. All other foobar2000 dll work fine, only foo_scrobble is indicated as a threat.

Bitdefender says: "item was deleted. Threat name: Gen:Suspicious.Cloud.4.Uu8@aya8bPgi. Path: D:\foobar2000_music\user-components\foo_scrobble\foo_scrobble.dll"

General - (fb2k) / Autocomplete multivalue field
Last post by jazzthieve -
When I try to autocomplete a multi value field in tag properties it doesn't allow me to fill in the complete multi value but rather only the separate values. Is there a way to make foobar take the complete multi value instead of only a selection of each single value?

I did not claim that 0.03% THD was audible. I said that 0.03% does NOT GUARANTEE that the distortion is absolutely(!) inaudible in all cases.
LOL
Ok, show one case of audible 0.03% THD

0.1% THD is the usual limit. Even that requires somewhat atypical conditions.

Two approaches to possibly making 0.03% THD audible are:

(1) Very high order nonlinear distortion

(2) Crossover distortion.

Both are very uncommon in good modern gear, and come pretty close to being excluded middle arguments.  The second approach might be more fruitful.

Be sure of creating a copy of the original theme with all the options because if you change fonts on the second one and you go back to the first one the fonts will not. So you will have the first theme with the fonts of the second one.

General Music Discussion / BPM Viewing On Main Dashboard Possible?
Last post by acvegas -
How do I make the BPM (Beats Per Minutes) plug-in always show/appear within FooBar2000 main dashboard; is that possible?  Please provide easy step-by-step directions.  Thanks A Million.

I did a search here at this forum ……and after reading I am not sure this possible.  Is it possible?

If not; Foobar2000 coders (or coders) please get to work.  Thanks.

... AAC itself is more efficient for the same bitrate than MP3 ...
So yes, I suggest to keep the same bitrate. Increasing it might give an incorrect sign of higher quality and decreasing it could boost the artifacts from transcoding.

Ahh I hadn't considered such transcoding artifacts and I completely agree with you on the matter of the perception issue it could cause if it were increased...

FYI:
http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Transcoding#Lossy-to-lossy_transcoding

Why you want to do that? The video container format doesn't support mp3? Player compatibility? Are there any alternatives to avoid transcoding?

Thanks for the link to the lossy-to-lossy transcoding wiki section!

I have to do this so it works with some streaming software. Apparently it doesn't like WAV, PCM, OGG, MP3 but will take any AAC we throw at it.

The plan is to stream these videos all live in playlist and while I do know of ways to get it working, the organization's software doesn't appear to accept anything other than AAC well. Its not really my choice either so I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do to "retain" as much of the original audio signal as possible.

Thank you both very much! This has been illuminating!
